The Department of International Relations was established within the body of YÖK with the Law No. 7033 published in the Official Gazette dated 1 July 2017 and numbered 30111, and the Decision of the Executive Board of Higher Education dated 6 July 2017.
The activities of the Department of International Relations are based on the "European Union and International Relations Unit", which was established in 2005 with the decision of the General Assembly of YÖK. The aforementioned Unit followed the changes in the scope of higher education in Europe and the world in this period in line with its establishment goal, reflected the developments and practices in line with our higher education strategy to our country's higher education and improved relations with foreign countries. The Unit, which included different task titles in its activities in the following years, gained its current structure over time.
