- Turkish universities are developing numerous projects in the fields of environment, climate, and green transformation, ranging from energy efficiency and sustainable agriculture to water management and the circular economy.

As June 5, designated by the United Nations as World Environment Day, once again highlights the importance of scientific research in addressing environmental challenges, Turkish higher education institutions continue to stand out through their research and practical initiatives in this field.
In addition to their research activities, Turkish universities contribute to environmental and climate transformation through sustainable campus practices, awareness-raising initiatives carried out by student organizations, and collaborations with public and private sector stakeholders. By aiming to develop science-based solutions to environmental challenges, universities support efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
In the field of energy, Yıldız Technical University is implementing waste management and carbon reduction initiatives, while renewable energy use is being expanded through a solar energy system installed at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Hospital.
Under the ILATERA Platform coordinated by Istanbul Technical University, clean energy and low-emission transportation technologies are being developed, while Anadolu University promotes energy and water conservation through its e-book application.
In the area of water management and marine ecosystems, Yaşar University is achieving water savings through a rainwater harvesting system, while Istanbul University is conducting research on ecosystem health and mucilage risks in the Marmara Sea. Aksaray University is developing projects aimed at removing boron pollution from wastewater.
In the field of sustainable agriculture and food, Boğaziçi University is producing environmentally friendly agricultural solutions from tea waste. Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University is accelerating seed classification processes in agricultural production through domestically developed technology.
Uşak University is drawing attention to soilless agriculture through hydroponic systems, while Bursa Uludağ University is conducting research on sustainable agriculture and food security.
Giresun University is carrying out research on sustainable agricultural practices. Karabük University is conducting studies on sustainable gastronomy and the preservation of local food culture.
