An Implementation Protocol covering the period 2026-2030, aimed at strengthening cooperation in higher education between Türkiye and Niger, has been signed.

The protocol was signed at a ceremony held at the Presidential Complex by Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, and Yaou Sangare Bakary, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad of the Republic of Niger.

Under the protocol, the two countries will cooperate in establishing a joint vocational school within Abdou Moumouni University in Niamey, Niger’s capital, with the aim of training the qualified technical specialists and intermediate workforce needed by the country.

The vocational school is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of vocational and technical education and contribute to Niger’s development goals.

The protocol also provides for Turkish language education for Nigerien students, enhanced cultural interaction, and expanded academic and scientific opportunities for students pursuing graduate-level studies.

- Joint Scientific Projects to Be Supported

The implementation protocol also aims to enhance academic and scientific cooperation between the state universities of the two countries.

In this context, efforts will be made to encourage joint research projects, increase collaboration among academics, and strengthen the exchange of scientific knowledge.

President of the Council of Higher Education Erol Özvar expressed his hope that the protocol, which will further advance academic relations between Türkiye and Niger, will be beneficial for both countries.
