The Council of Higher Education requested that universities address human rights violations occurring in Gaza on the agenda during the opening ceremonies and lectures of the 2025-2026 academic year, alongside topics related to education and teaching.
In a correspondence sent to universities by the Council of Higher Education, it was stated that Israel's brutal massacre in Gaza, which has been going on for nearly two years, targeting civilians, mostly babies, women, the sick, and the elderly, without any legal, moral, or ethical boundaries, has left a black stain in human history, and “Our sole wish is that this openly and recklessly pursued savagery ends immediately.”
The correspondence emphasized that it is the humanitarian and moral duty of higher education institutions to include this issue on the agenda during the opening ceremonies and lectures of the academic year, and requested that they demonstrate sensitivity to the matter.
