QS 2026 World University Rankings, the world's leading international higher education rating agency, has been announced. Turkish universities achieved a historic success in the rankings.

In the ranking, where 1,500 universities from 106 countries and regions around the world were evaluated, two Turkish universities entered the top 300, four Turkish universities entered the top 400, and six Turkish universities entered the top 500. While METU ranked 269th and ITU 298th among the top 300 universities in the world, Koç University ranked 323rd and Boğaziçi University 371st among the top 400 universities.

Sabancı University ranked 404th and Bilkent University ranked 415th among the world's top 500 universities. Thus, six Turkish universities ranked among the world's top 500 universities. 26 Turkish universities made it to the ranking. Türkiye became the fourth country to make the most progress among countries with more than 20 universities.

In the “Employer Reputation” indicator, METU, Boğaziçi and ITU ranked among the top 100 universities in the world. In this field, METU ranked 77th, Boğaziçi 88th and ITU 91st.

11 Turkish universities managed to take place in the top 1,000. Nine of these universities increased their rankings compared to last year, two universities maintained their positions and none of the universities dropped down.

Apart from the universities in the top 500, the Turkish universities in the top 1,000 are as follows:

According to the statement made by QS; this year's results revealed the most successful outlook for Türkiye to date. In the statement, it was pointed out that Türkiye's international academic reputation is rising rapidly.

Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, expressed his satisfaction with the continued rise of Turkish universities in the world rankings and said, "This success is not a coincidence, we have worked hard together. We will achieve greater things. I congratulate all our universities that have entered the rankings for their efforts."
