Stanford University 2025 AI Index Report: Türkiye is globally competitive in AI
According to Stanford University's 2024 AI Index Report, Türkiye is the 3rd country with the highest number of graduates among European countries in the fields of informatics, computer engineering and information technology

Türkiye ranks 6th in the number of master's graduates in these fields and 5th in the number of doctoral graduates

Turkish higher education stands out in global competition in the fields of informatics, artificial intelligence and computer engineering. According to Stanford University's 2024 AI Index Report, Türkiye has the third highest number of graduates among European countries in the fields of informatics, computer science, computer engineering and information technology at the undergraduate level.
According to the report, the United Kingdom has the highest number of graduates at the undergraduate level in the fields of informatics, CS, CE and IT among European countries, followed by Germany and Türkiye.
When comparing the number of bachelor's graduates in these fields between 2012 and 2022 among European countries, Norway has the highest proportional change with 153%, followed by Türkiye with 118%.
Türkiye ranks 6th in the number of master's graduates and 5th in the number of PhD graduates in these fields. Türkiye also ranks first in the percentage change of PhD graduates from 2012 to 2022 with a rate of 173% and in the percentage change of PhD graduates in informatics per 100,000 people with a rate of 142%.
Stanford University's 2025 AI Index Report also shows that Türkiye is in a competitive position on a global scale in terms of metrics in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to the report, Türkiye, which stands out with its gender equality in the field of Information and Communication Technologies, ranks 3rd in the world and 2nd in Europe after the USA and Spain with the highest number of associate degree graduates in this field.
Last year, the Council of Higher Education opened 17 programs based on AI at the associate's degree and level in 20 universities.

Noting that AI-based programs provide education with full occupancy rate, Özvar said, "We aim to ensure that every student takes at least one course in the field of AI until graduation. We are increasing the number of programs in this field, which will play an important role in closing the digital skills gap of our country, to 20 and the number of universities with AI programs to over 80."
