October 21, 2025
Türkiye has achieved a remarkable milestone in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchange Programme, one of the most prestigious research support mechanisms of the European Union’s Horizon Europe framework.
According to the European Research Executive Agency (REA), a total of 363 project proposals were submitted under this year’s call, requesting a combined €423.6 million in funding. Türkiye stood out with 17 project coordinators, ranking sixth in Europe after Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Greece, and France.
CoHE President Erol Özvar stated that Türkiye’s research ecosystem continues to grow stronger and more visible within the European Research Area (ERA): “Türkiye is no longer just a participant but a leading country in research projects. Our capacity in international research management, consortium building, and our pool of qualified researchers continue to expand.”
This year’s MSCA Staff Exchange Programme attracted 2,757 institutions from 134 countries, with 31 countries leading project consortia. The initiative aims to foster knowledge exchange among researchers, build research capacity, and generate innovative solutions. Around 90 projects are expected to receive support, with a total budget of approximately €100 million.
